Messe Frankfurt, the organizer of the Frankfurt lighting Fair Light+Building, has acquired a 33.3% stake in LightFair (US International Lighting Fair) from ANDMORE. The deal, effective February 23, will make LightFair part of the international network of the Light + Building brand.
This is a significant development for the lighting industry and marks a significant change in LightFair's ownership structure and the lighting show landscape.
It is understood that IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers), IES (Society of Lighting Engineering) and AMC established LightFair, each holding 33.3%, in June 2023, AMC was rebranded and renamed ANDMORE. The acquisition by Messe Frankfurt will not change the shareholding structure of IES and IALD, as both parties retain 33.3% of their respective shares.
Messe Frankfurt's acquisition of LightFair is a major strategic move aimed at consolidating the trade show's position and influence in the lighting industry, enhancing its appeal and value to attendees and reaffirming its position as a must-attend event for lighting professionals in North America.
Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt, stressed: "With the extensive experience of our partners IALD and IES in North America and Messe Frankfurt's track record as a leading international trade fair organizer for construction technology, we are pooling our common resources and focusing our strengths, and this strategic decision allows us to bring our expertise to bear in the United States."
IES and IALD are also looking forward to collaborating with Messe Frankfurt on LightFair in the future.
ANDMORE also issued a statement saying: "ANDMORE has sold its interest in LightFair to Messe Frankfurt. Messe Frankfurt, owner and operator of the industry's premier international event, Light + Building, will continue to work with the industry's leading trade associations IES and IALD to create new opportunities for the LightFair brand as well as for the event's exhibitors and attendees. This is a deliberate decision by ANDMORE to redeploy capital to a growing industry."
With more than 500 exhibiting companies and the largest architectural and commercial lighting event in North America, LightFair will return in 2025, scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, USA, from May 4-8, 2025.
